West Newbury MA Area Info
West Newbury lures home buyers looking for a quiet town with rural beauty, lots of nearby recreation, and a great location. After a couple of centuries as a farm community, it has come to be one of the sought-after and affluent towns in Massachusetts. West Newbury also sets a fine example for conservation, with several protected areas with trails for walking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. These areas include the Mill Pond Recreation Area, the Crane Pond Wildlife Management Area and the Riverbend Recreation Area.
West Newbury’s other natural features are its seven named hills, the Artichoke Reservoir, and the Merrimack River, which forms the town’s northern border. The river provides not just gorgeous scenery, but fishing, boating and kayaking as well. Its fertile banks still support working farms, such as Long Hill Orchard, a certified organic farm and the town’s oldest.
